PSBMB Reviews and Updates (RevUp)The Philippine Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is a society committed to upgrade knowledge in biochemistry by encouraging research and education and by establishing communication and exchange of professional knowledge among members as well as with other biochemists abroad, and establish means by which biochemistry could be utilized for the improvement of the socio-economic and health conditions of the country.
One project is the RevUp, a Review and Update workshop series, featuring lectures and hands-on exercises to update the teaching of biosciences. The 1st RevUp Workshop was launched in Siliman University last December 2, 2004. The 2nd RevUp Workshop was held last September 30, 2005 at the Antonio Garcia Hall of the College of Medicine, University of the Philippines Manila. The 3rd RevUp workshop was held last October 22, 2005 at the Angeles University Foundation in Angeles City, Pampanga. Most of the participants in the workshop were high school and college biosciences teachers from Northern and Central Luzon and the National Capital Region. The 4th RevUp was held last April 18-19, 2006 at the Bicol University in Legazpi, Albay. This RevUp also featured an ecotour showing the whale sharks of Donsol, Sorsogon. The succeeding RevUp workshops have been held in various provinces in the country, including Iloilo, Bukidnon, Nueva Ecija, Bacolod, Ilocos Norte, Quezon, Albay, Cebu, and General Santos City.
