ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
The International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB) is devoted to promoting research and education in biochemistry and molecular biology throughout the world by uniting Biochemists and Molecular Biologists in 75 countries.
As it gears towards its 64th year, the IUBMB is partnering with its affiliate, the Philippine Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (PSBMB) through the Federation of Asian and Oceanian Biochemists and Molecular Biologists (FAOBMB) to host its IUBMB Education Conference 2019 in conjunction with its 46th PSBMB Annual Convention on November 13-15, 2019 at The Manila Hotel, Manila City, Philippines with a theme, Harnessing Interdisciplinary Education in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. This 3-day event will provide a great venue for Educationists, Research Faculty, Researchers, and aspiring young scientist educators to meet, discuss and build international collaborations. The event will be a great opportunity for gaining new insights and renewed engagements in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Education under an interdisciplinary background. Among the highlights are the round table discussions and mini lectures on BMB Education for K-12 Teachers, BMB Education for Medical School Educationists, BMB Education for Undergraduate and Post Graduate, BMB in Health Sciences, Tools in Teaching BMB, BMB Continuing Education in the Industry, Publishing in Education, and Laboratory Classes in BMB Education, to surface out issues, challenges and best practices that may advance BMB Education in the region and in the world in general. There will be Plenary sessions by renowned researchers and academicians. There will be interactive round table sessions and mini lectures followed by open discussion time. The event will also feature the Clara Lim-Sylianco (CLS) Lecture and a competition for undergraduate research projects, the Young Scientists’ Forum (YSF). |

The International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology – founded in 1955 – unites biochemists and molecular biologists in 75 countries that belong to the Union as an Adhering Body or Associate Adhering Body represented by a biochemical society, a national research council or an academy of sciences. The Union is devoted to promoting research and education in biochemistry and molecular biology throughout the world and gives particular attention to areas where the subject is still in its early development. It achieves this in several ways.

ABOUT PSBMB
The PSBMB was formerly known as the Philippine Biochemistry Society (PBS). Governed by an Executive Board of (11) duly elected officers. The PBS was established in August 1973 by a group of biochemistry educators to foster the development of biochemistry in the country. As contained in its constitution and by-laws, the PSBMB is committed to: upgrade knowledge in biochemistry by encouraging research and education and by establishing communication and exchange of professional knowledge among members as well as with other biochemists abroad, and establish means by which biochemistry could be utilized for the improvement of the socio-economic and health conditions of the country. The PSBMB has been a member of the Federation of Asian and Oceanian Biochemists and Molecular Biologists (FAOBMB; formerly FAOB) since 1973. It also represents the Philippines in the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB; formerly IUB).
